2008/10/28 · Leave a Comment

To see Casual Sax at Cinespace. If you don’t know Casual Sax, you’re missing out. I love perverted songs. I love songs talking about naughty things. Who doesn’t? Anyway, the Miami based duo will be performing tonight for the FIRST time LA  in preperation for their upcoming debut LP “The Blow Sven Theory”.  I wish I were in LA tonight to see their show. I have a feeling it’s gonna be a good one! Anyway, it’s about damn time because I’ve been waiting for new material from them! Maybe we’ll get more dirty perv tracks!?

YELLE

2008/10/28 · 2 Comments

I am super duper stoked for tonight! I love Yelle and will be going to her show… and yes, I am printing off the mask to participate in her documentary. She is so darn adorable. I love her style. I also really love her diss song “Je Veux Te Voir” to rapper Cuizinier of CTT.  I could go on forever and ever about her.

I’ll leave you with this song…ahhh games withe the heart.

Fou et telemement evident
Que je n’trouve plus de sens
A ce jeu excitant
Si bon mais si lassant
Tu aimes me manipuler
Et j’aime en faire autant
Nous sommes tout deux victime
De ce doux jeu d’amants

OR

crazy and so obvious
i cant make any sense of
this exciting game
so good but so tiresome
you like to manipulate me
and i like to do it just as much
we’re two victims of this sweet
lovers’ game

M.I.S.S. Crew’s open letter to NIKE: My shoes don’t need a diet

2008/10/26 · Leave a Comment

Dear Nike,

My name is Gabriella Davi-Khorasanee and I’m the co-founder and Executive Editor of M.I.S.S. and the founder of one of the leading women’s streetewear brands, Mama.  I’ve designed sneakers, for consumers and athletes, and been featured on sneaker websites and magazines, from Sneaker Freaker to Kix And The City, and know a little bit about what women want when it comes to a pair of kicks.  I am also an avid consumer of sneakers and of my over 100 pairs, I would say 90% are Nike.  I love the brand, and some of your silhouettes, including the Cortez, Air Max 97 and Dunk High, are at the top of my all-time list. Unfortunately, I feel the need to write this letter because I am concerned that the direction of your designs and conceptions of the women’s market are fatally flawed. You are making some big mistakes in your design and I believe there are some misconceptions in Portland on what women want.

I think it was last year or the year before when I first heard about a “Zen” Air Max 97 – a “feminized” slimmer version of the Air Max 97 for women.  I have since stopped buying women’s Air Max 97s and can only cross my fingers to find boy’s size 5 as my only option for the original Air Max 97 silhouette.  I was disappointed yesterday when I learned on HighSnobiety that you were making a “slimmer” version of the Dunk High.  It now looks like I’ll have to stop buying Nike Women’s Dunk Highs.  I don’t know who told you that this was a good idea, but I fear that your focus group or tastemakers may be leading you astray.  Here’s a little something about women that you should know:  Women have many, many, options when it comes to footwear.  Sneakers are only 1 of many options to choose from to achieve 1 of countless possible looks.  We wear sneakers to be casual, sporty, and stylish.  If we’re going for a more feminine look, we don’t wear sneakers. We wear ballet flats or stilettos or boots or any one of the dozens of different “ladies” shoes.  Stop trying to make the sneaker something that it isn’t.  It’s a sneaker, trainer, kick – whatever you can to call it – embrace what it is – and give your customers what they want.

Your loyal but extremely disappointed customer,

Gabriella A. Davi-Khorasanee

Lyrics Born – Whispers

2008/10/26 · 1 Comment

I’ve always been a fan of Lyrics Born because he has messages in his songs that are positive and keep you in the same mind set.  Word on the street is that LB is coming out with a new video for his single Whispers off of his new album Everywhere At Once. Here’s a link for the track. His voice is so damn smooth!!!

Enjoy!

2008/10/24 · 2 Comments

After ditching my old blog and starting a new one here on WordPress in July, I have hit the 200 mark on posts today. Yeah 200 posts really isn’t that much of a super mega awesomely huge milestone, but it’s a jump start off to something real ill.  I’d also like to give big ups to those who have put me in your RSS feeds, to those those who peep on the daily, and those who have added me on their blogrolls. Y’all are awesome! Thank you & come again!

The Very Good Years

2008/10/23 · Leave a Comment

So the last two evenings were the wrap up events for school. The S/S fashion grad shows and graduation  ceremony. FINALLY DONE DONE with school! I’ve seen Ian Chen’s creations many times before and have always been amazed. I was in a fashion show back in April where Ian had debuted his final collection before the school’s event on Tuesday and was blown away seeing The Very Good Years on a much grander scale, ya know the whole huge runway thang instead of in an art gallery. I’m not just hyping up Ian Chen because he’s a school mate, I’m hyping up Ian Chen because he’s amazing at what he does.  I cannot wait to see where Ian’s career goes because he has so much talent and creativeness.   I can totally see Ian’s clothes at Black Bird in Ballard, WA. For more information and photos on Ian and info on his final collection click here.
